The Adriatic city of Dubrovnik

The Adriatic city of Dubrovnik

Croatia is one of the most spectacular countries in the world and this is due in part to some of the beautiful coastal cities which litter the coastline. One such city is Dubrovnik which is one of the oldest cities in the region and has even been included on the UNESCO world heritage list.

The city has earned itself the nickname of the Pearl of the Adriatic. It is not hard to see why it has earned this name when you see how beautiful the town is. Dubrovnik is well known for it’s abundance of ancient architecture, fountains and many museums.

The highlight of the city is the section called the old city which has many of the highlights. During the Croation war, the city was heavily attacked and signs of the damage are still visible throughout the city however most have been repaired since.

The city also has the city walls which surround the old city. These walls are 2km in length and are a famous attraction of the city.
